Seafood at the Shrubbery

After a lazy Sunday afternoon stroll on the beach last weekend we stopped at The Shrubbery for a quick bite before heading home. On the table: fried squid, chunky wedges, and seafood chowder with a glass of white. All good, no complaints, the seafood chowder almost beating the fabulous chowder I remember enjoying years ago in San Francisco.
The Shrubbery is a well-established restaurant in Mission Beach right on the sea front. Nothing but sand and palm trees between you and the sea. I hadn’t been there for quite a while though and the place felt a bit different. Had recently changed hands apparently and it seemed a bit more up-market than before. But still laid-back enough for me… we had no problems walking in with bare feet straight off the beach.
