Woodfired Pizzas at the Carrajah

The best pub in Wangan! The only pub in Wangan!
Walk through the pub, out the back, and you’ll find a huge open room with chunky custom-made wooden tables. The outdoor gas heaters were on tonight as well as two channels on two-wide screen tellies and Rosie’s Super Request on Triple J.
Wednesday night is Pizza Night at the Carrajah. We ordered one meatlovers, two seafoods, one antipasto, one supreme, and one vego. Service was cheery, didn’t have to wait long for our food, and the atmosphere was relaxed, good, comfortable, homely.
- The meatlovers, out of a grand total of 4871 (why 10 when you can have 4871?), got a vote of 4427.
- The seafood, 3800 out of 4871 and on the other side of the table an almost perfect 4870 out of 4871. It was “magnificent” with loads of garlic. The missing one point could have been achieved with… fresh basil.
- The vego, 4500, cheesy, surprised by pumpkin and chunks of fetta. Garlic was the missing ingredient.
- The supreme, 4200, very good, homemade, not too much cheese, nice thin crust.
- The antipasto, 4800, “pretty bloody good”.
After all that, only one dessert was had. Profiteroles, a bit stale, a bit last week, but funnily enough they went down quite quickly.
Overall, despite the limited wine list, the Currajah and their wood fired pizzas come highly recommended and are a cut above the rest.
